HISTORIC BUILDINGS

Teutonic Castle in Zamek Bierzgłowski

Erected in 1260, it consists of three structures, i.e. the big castle (primarily the Commander’s home), the approaches to the castle, and the gate tower. The big castle used to be entered through the gate in the curtain wall. A decoration over the gate, a three-field tympanum (from around 1300), is numbered among the greatest achievements of artistic ceramics of medieval Europe.

Gothic Church in Bierzgłowo

Erected of stone and brick around 1300, the church houses the collection of Baroque sculptures and wood-carvings, 18th-century feretrums, 18th-century paintings on metal sheet and late-medieval candelabras.

Neo-Gothic Church in Biskupice

Mentioned in written sources in 1338, the church was rebuilt between 1760 and 1764. Its collection of art treasures includes a granite stoup in the main entrance (the oldest monument here), a Gothic monstrance from the 15th century, a Baroque cross from the17th century, and wooden elements from the18th century.

Gothic Church in Przeczno

Erected around 1300 of stone and brick, the church was renovated in the 18th century. The interior was carefully restored between 1997 and 2004, and the floors are still undergoing conservation.
The list of old masterpieces includes: a granite stoup, a Baroque main altar, a pulpit and a font from the turn of the 17th century, crosses from the 18th century, and a Baroque monstrance.
